Fade to Black
I asked chatgpt to create a black television screen with the letters “CBS” in white that are fading out. Here is the response I got: “We’re so sorry, but the image we created may violate our guardrails concerning similarity to third-party content. If you think we got it wrong, please retry or edit your prompt.” So, I made this one which doesn’t need AI approval. I do NOT approve of the end of Colbert. Speaking of guardrails, where are they when it comes to the current administration?
I wore a white pants suit to cast my vote for Hillary, and we all know how that went. Not a stolen election or redrawn voting maps. We heard a concession speech. During those horrid years, Stephen Colbert kept me afloat and laughing. Those were the days when I wasn’t concerned about free speech!
The white suit abandoned, I voted with hope for Kamala. Again, I tuned into “The Late Show” for levity and hope. I began watching Jimmy Kimmel. trump 2 has brought nightmares and daymares, worry, hand wringing, No Kings marches, postcard writing, and perpetual worry. The Epstein survivors bring me to tears along with cuts to SNAP, foreign aid, blowing up boats, and a war on Iran that has faded from headlines while pleas for a ballroom, an arch, and corruption on a grand scale that has served as an effective appetite suppressant are daily fare. The IDEA of paying criminals responsible for the trump-inspired insurrection is so disgusting that I cannot think of an accurate word to describe my horror.
I could go on and on and on.
I am often asked for activist suggestions, so I am posting this as an idea to consider. Jimmy Kimmel suggested I cancel CBS by simply not watching. Easy Peasy. Tonight will be my last night on CBS, because I will be watching “The Late Show” for the last time with gratitude.
Of course, I won’t give up. If you are reading this, you won’t either.

I haven’t watched late night comedians since Johnny Carson left, so I don’t know what I missed. I don’t find Saturday Night Live as funny as it was, either.
But that comment does not address the issue of government censorship, even revoking the broadcast license in acts of retribution.
Nor does it address any of the multiple acts of revenge and retribution that we hear of every single day.
